El acuerdo bilateral entre Suiza y Perú y el programa Tuki Wasi son una de las primeras expresiones del mecanismo ITMO (“Resultado de Mitigación Transferido Internacionalmente”), previsto en el artículo 6 del Acuerdo de París sobre cambio climático. Por lo tanto, han recibido mucha atención crítica internacionalmente. El presente informe analiza el marco regulatorio para este tipo de transferencias, el aporte de cocinas mejoradas para la mitigación de emisiones de carbono, y la implementación del programa Tuki Wasi en Huánuco y La Libertad.

Cooking to Compensate? The Switzerland-Peru agreement for the transfer of carbon credits under the Paris Agreement and the Tuki Wasi improved cookstoves programme

The bilateral agreement between Switzerland and Peru and the Tuki Wasi programme are among the first expressions of the ITMO («Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcome») mechanism, provided for in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement on climate change. They have therefore received much critical attention internationally. This report analyses the regulatory framework for such transfers, the contribution of improved cookstoves to carbon emision mitigation, and the implementation of the Tuki Wasi programme in Huánuco and La Libertad.
